SmartMusic Introduction!

Assignments from 3/16-3/20

6th Grade Assignments

Monday 3/16: Review Quizlet Semester #2 2-3 times in the Member’s Learning tab. Be prepared to identify symbols and definitions for Friday.

Tuesday 3/17: Write three full sentences of musical observations on the linked video. Make observations on the style of the piece as well as how the musicians are moving to reflect the piece. (body language, facial expressions, bow usage)

Wednesday 3/18: Reflective practice log. (non-instrument assignment below) Today, spend at least 30 minutes of meaningful practice with your instrument. Before you begin, answer the following questions on paper:

1) What are three things I focus will on?

2) How will I accomplish these goals?

Be specific, like "I will focus on keeping steady tempo in measures 11-17 by using a metronome" or "I will focus on playing measures 20-28 in tune by checking referencing a tuning app while I play."

When you are finished, write down two tips on how to practice more efficiently next time. Be specific, like "move to a room where I cannot be easily distracted" or "have the music stand set up before I begin"

If you are not able to access your instrument, watch this video and take at least five sentences of notes on the topics discussed.

Thursday 3/19: Dictations. Complete the two dictations to the right. There is a metronome clicking for a full measure before the exercise begins. There is no limit of how many times you may listen.

The first exercise is 4 measures long and in 4/4 time signature.

The second exercise is 4 measures long and in 3/4 time signature.
