8th Grade Trip: All 8th graders intending on participating in the Universal trip should have submitted a trip contract as well as $100 deposit either online or via payment envelope at school. 

7th Grade ASO Trip: All students and parents intending in participating in this day trip to the Atlanta Symphony and The Varsity should have turned in $33 each via online payments or white envelope at school. Please note, this payment covers the bus and concert ticket, NOT lunch. Students will need to bring money to purchase lunch or pack. The menu can be downloaded here.

Concert Wrap-Up: Congrats to all orchestra students on fantastic fall concert performances! All will soon be uploaded to our YouTube channel, make sure you subscribe (under media on main menu).

Fundraiser:  Thank you for the assistance in fundraiser pickup day and to all of those families that sold items or donated. We cannot provide the program we do without your support, we greatly appreciate you!

8th Grade Universal Trip: All information and trip contracts can be located under "Forms" on our main page. Please use this resource as all updates and information will be posted there as the trip gets closer. 

*All trip contracts and initial $100 deposit is due Monday, November 4th. NO EXCEPTIONS. Any student who does not have deposit and contract form turned in will be considered as not wanting to attend. We have to start finalizing numbers on our reservations, determining the cost per student as well. 

October 21, 2019

Fundraiser Delivery date is Tuesday, October 29th.  If you sold one item or 121 items, you MUST have someone pick these items up that day. Items are frozen and we have nowhere to store them. PLEASE make arrangements now for this. 

Pickup location: E-wing doors (by music area in front of school)

Times: 12 noon-6:30pm (NOT any later)

If you are not at Dickerson by 6:15pm, we will start calling you to have you come get your items. Thank you for making a plan now for pickup. All items are bagged/grouped by student. Enter orchestra room, locate your child's last name, check order against delivery sheet, sign off. Make sure you have room in your vehicle/freezer if you have large orders. We highly recommend delivering these as soon as possible, they must remain frozen.

Congrats 8th Graders! Fantastic performance on Tuesday evening! Thank you to the families who attended our trip meeting. The presentation will be posted on our site by the end of the week. If you need a trip packet, please see a director.  

Concert information for next week:

Tuesday, October 22nd:

7-1: Report between 6-6:15pm, start time at 6:30pm

7-2: Report between 7-7:15pm, start time at 7:30pm

(full concert attire)

Thursday, October 24th:

6-1: Report between 6-6:15pm, start time at 6:30pm

6-2: Report between 7-7:15pm, start time at 7:30pm

Dress: orchestra t-shirt, NO hoodies! dark/blue jeans, please no white or light colored pants if possible. Shoes must be standard-no boots, no flip-flops/sandals, nothing sparkly please. 

Violins/Violas report to band room for tuning/warm-up, cello/bass to orchestra room.

8th Grade Concert: 

Tuesday, October 15th at Dickerson. 

8-1: Report 6-6:15pm, start time is 6:30pm

8-2: Report 7-7:15pm, start time is 7:30pm

*Newly added: Trip meeting at 7pm!  Those families interested in learning about the upcoming orchestra trip (March 26-29), please be in the theatre at 7pm. This means 8-1 families stay following the concert, 8-2 families arrive a few minutes early.

Yes, 8th grade orchestra students should be in the audience for this. Trip presentation will provide details of trip and we will answer as many questions as time allows. If you cannot make this meeting, the presentation will be posted on the orchestra website. We wanted to take advantage of this opportunity of having an 8th grade only concert. Thank you for being flexible!

Please read carefully!  The majority of boys' concert uniforms are coming home today. A handful are on still on order. Here is information that is also attached with the uniforms, but we know out boys...

Instructions: Please try on uniform IMMEDIATELY.  If there is a MAJOR issue, return packaged as neatly as possible with name on it and a note indicating what needs to be fixed. 


1.Boys need to use these for two years, into the end of 8thgrade so you want room to grow.

2.Sizes are limited as they are fixed and not all shirts/pants perfectly fit our growing middle school boys.

3.***Please avoid cutting off material on pants. All pants are long, you MUST have them hemmed to ¼ inch above the ground dress shoes on (yes, dress shoes). Sew up extra material so it can be let down later once your child grows and you won’t need to purchase a new pair of pants.

8th Grade Families:  Due to the Rising Walton Freshman Meeting conflicting with the 7/8 concert on October 22nd, we have been asked to move the 8th Grade Concerts ONLY to Tuesday, October 15th.  We have had our concert scheduled since last May, but was overlooked by Walton. We do whatever we can so this does not occur again in future events. We do understand you may have obligations the evening of the 15th, please do what you can to make the concert. Any students that cannot attend the performance will perform the concert on the orchestra iPad for a grade. Thank you so much for your understanding and flexibility. (Please note, the new concert date is during early release/conference week). 

October 15th: 

8-1: Report between 6-6:15pm, start time at 6:30pm

8-2: Report between 7-7:15pm, start time at 7:30pm

*7th grade concerts remain the same on October 22nd, similar report times to above 8th grade classes.

Spiritwear is in! All students who have paid should have brought spiritwear home yesterday. Love seeing our blue shirts around the school today!

7th and 8th concert attire: Will be here immediately after break. This is a very limited time to be sure the items fit. There are students who have yet to pay online for this. PLEASE get this taken care of so your uniform isn't sitting here waiting to be hemmed. *8th grade families that ordered uniforms please be sure to submit payment online as well. We have many 8th grade boys missing payments.

All 6th graders: PLEASE confirm that you have paid for your spirit wear with your parents. We want to get these out before fall break. Make sure you have paid for your items on Mypaymentsplus under the "fundraiser" tab. I have extended the payment window until the end of the month. Look for your orchestra tees and hoodies coming home this week!
