Refund Update:  A handful of you have emailed regarding refunds for the Universal trip. I moved as quickly as I could on my end weeks ago. We are awaiting the refund check from Universal, which informed us could be 6-8 weeks (this was about 4 weeks ago). Our bookkeeper is doing what she can to stay on top of the mail collection from the post office and processing any refund checks that come in. As soon as I have information on when your checks are processed, I will let you know.

Nashville Refunds (Chamber):  Are currently being processed. These were easier because we hadn't yet paid for the majority of trip expenses since it was much further out than the Universal trip.

When can I get my instrument from school? Trust me, I would have loved for instruments to be in hands the first week we were out. However, this is a district decision. I have zero control over this decision. Our admin team will let us know of the soonest days and times when possible. It is frustrating for...

Final Call: If you attending the ASO concert with us this year and have NOT yet completed the refund link, please do so this week. After this week, we can no longer offer the refund option as we need to close out the account. *If you received an email stating you need to respond and requested a refund, please resubmit. Names were not included on the recent round of submissions, therefore we cannot tell who requested the refund. This only applies to those completing the form in the past two weeks, a personal email was sent to you.

Hey musicians! We are having a group tuning guided tour on Wednesday, April 15th at 10:30am. This is open to any and all students who want some guidance in tuning. Even if you ARE in tune, join us in case you want knowledge in case you need to get in tune later. I can also post a video to reference later on. Many have emailed, happy to help via a personal Zoom.

**Super helpful tip: download the free tuning all PanoTuner. Have this nearby during our tuning lesson. See you then!

Hello Orchestra Families! I hope you are having a peaceful spring break. We have had some concerned musicians and families in regards to keeping playing abilities up and progressing. We are doing whatever we can to help maintain the musical skills you have learned this year. We have two options to offer:

1. 10-15 minute Zoom lesson by one of your current orchestra teachers. We can review anything in the book, assist with any other material you have, or make some recommendations on music to work on. After spring break, we will post a signup genius with 15 minute time slots for anyone interested.

2. Private Zoom lessons by a string teacher other than Hardy or Bitinas. These private Zoom lessons would be approximately 30 minutes in length and cost $25. These lessons are highly recommended for students wanting to progress on their instrument, have musical goals such as auditioning for chamber orchestra this fall, or auditioning up in the Walton Orchestra program (it's never too early 7th gra...

We need every person that attended the ASO with us to complete the following form. Please: only one form per student/family (include chaperone response as ONE response for the family). If you do not record a response/complete form by Friday, April 17th, your $8.21 refund will automatically be donated to the orchestra. Thank you!

Rising 8th Graders: If you are interested in Visual Arts Comp class next year as an 8th grader, check out Ms. Bronzino's blog.

Please note: This is a high school level class taken ALL YEAR as your second connection where you will receive high school credit. If accepted, you would attend this class as one connection and orchestra as your other connection for the entire school year. If you are in VA Comp you cannot be in yearbook, as this also takes up a connection as well.

Hey Kiddos! I am going to open an optional Zoom if you need anything or have any questions. I helped one of our 6th graders tune her violin today (she did awesome!). The invite is below, pop in sometime during the half hour if you need help tuning. It's super helpful to download the tuning app: PanoTuner or something similar and have it nearby. Happy to walk you through it and help adjust the best I can.

If you can't make it or want to request help before then, shoot me an email and we can set something up.

8th Grade Trip Refund Update: A few parents have emailed regarding trip refunds. It has honestly consumed my past work week (along with keeping my two elementary kiddos on task). We are doing our best to do what we can at the moment. To put it in perspective: Universal Studios alone has informed us it will be 6-8 weeks before they can issue us ...

You've done a great job this week folks! We are proud of your dedication to keeping up your craft. Thank you for your patience as we are navigating new musical experiences. A few tips going forward: Smart Music is for people who have instruments, instead of or in addition to the alternate assignments. If you cannot get Smart Music to work properly, stick to the alternate assignments.

Smart Music Tips: Be sure you are not attempting to use it on a phone, doesn't work so well. Also, use Chrome as your browser if possible.

Going Forward:  We are going to offer a few selections for each level/instrument, without smart music. Assessments will potentially be sent via a google form and eventually, a flip grid. Those without instruments can stick to the alternate assignments.

Hang in there! Stay happy and healthy. Get outside! We have been so fortunate to have wonderful weather. My next door neighbor plays viola in 6th grade at another middle school. He missed his concert this past week so we ha...

All Classes: Welcome to week two of online orchestra! We are so proud of the effort you are putting in at home. This week, we are encouraging those who have instruments to play as much as possible. You will continue to have a Friday turn-in with small daily activities/assignments. Those who are playing will have more practice time incorporated, others more writing activities.

**Please be sure you have registered for Smart Music. Stay on top of your assignments in the Digital Learning tab. The quizlets this week will begin with smaller, more focused chunking of words to help students review specific areas/groupings of vocabulary. Let's take advantage of this time to really wrap our heads around some of these terms.

As always, please feel free to contact a director with any questions or concerns. Happy learning!
