Week 3

August 17, 2017

The Dickerson Orchestra program is off to a most stellar start! Each year seems to get a little smoother and a little bigger! We are breaking records once again with 522 students in grades 6-8 in our program! This being said, we will need lots of help to keep this ship afloat this year. PLEASE be sure you have subscribed to our email updates. We do our best to communicate often, but we are dealing with talented, busy, middle school age students-they can't remember it all.

Handbooks will soon be updated on our website. Please add calendar dates to your family calendars and let directors know of any conflicts as soon as possible.

This week in orchestra:

6th Grade: All violins and violas must have instruments by tomorrow (Friday, August 18). Please have both music books and shoulder rests (violin/viola) by Monday. Our classes have done a wonderful job so far of getting necessary items and following directions in class. Be ready to be amazed!! Students should be working on material at home. Coming soon: 6th grade shirt purchase information

7th Grade: Concert uniforms! We are SO excited to see our budding musicians become "official" concert musicians with our uniform fittings over the next week. Information will be sent home within the next week regarding uniforms. We need parent help! Moms, please help us with fitting the ladies for their concert dresses HERE.

8th Grade: Students should have tried on uniforms and let a director know if a different size is needed. Notebooks should be in, home practice should be happening!

Chamber: First informational meeting is Friday, August 18th at 8:25am. Please do your best to attend, see a director if you miss it. Rehearsals will be Mondays and Fridays before school.
